Morning arrivals and afternoon dismissal

Good morning, Sam Houston Elementary Families –

Happy Wednesday!  It was great to see all of the children’s smiling faces this morning!  This is a reminder about our car rider and walker building procedures.  The traffic procedures developed for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal are all done with the safety and security of your children in mind.

If your child is a walker, you should not be driving a car and parking anywhere along the street in the mornings or afternoons.  Children in cars are not considered walkers.  If you live within the walker zone and want to walk your children to and from campus, we just ask that you follow all traffic laws.  This means using all cross walks to arrive on campus.

If your child is a car rider, please remember that we allow drop off to begin at 7:35 each morning.  We have teachers at each cone to assist with opening car doors and walking students to the building.  When using the car rider line, we only travel in one direction.  We will not allow people to enter car line if they are traveling south on Thompson Street.  We will also not allow cars to enter the parking lot in the morning to escort children to the doors.  Please refrain from attempting either of these things.
